Retuta's Tumblr

The Visual and Written Chronicles of Phillip.

Who Be He?
They call him Phillip Retuta. He calls himself a visual & interactive designer, motion graphics artist, and illustrator -- an all-around artist. He's 29 years old, from Chicago, living in NYC, and has a lovely husky-lab mix named Nico. Currently employed as Senior Designer at a digital and social media firm.

What's All This Then?
Well, it's a fairly random tumblog of current and upcoming art endevours, photographs, comic sketches, creative philosophies, inspirations, and generally incomplete art projects.

So yeah, it's like a sketchbook.

Highlight of the Day: 2012.05.15: Comics Again.
At work, I’ve been doing a lot of pencil and ink character designs for an upcoming game. Naturally, making all of these illustrations have rekindled my love of drawing comics and storytelling. Pictured here is an incomplete comic from early 2009 (before I moved to New York and went to Parsons). I began rewriting the dialogue for this one and generating new material for future comics; I still want to develop and flush out the epic storyline I have in mind. I’ll most likely ink this tonight. With the comics (including supporting web campaigns), the comic website, and my Hindsight/Foresight project, I know I have a lot of personal projects I’d like to see finished. It may come off as a relatively impossible task, but doing this kind of stuff is my passion and my hobby (really, I have no tight deadline on any of these as long as they’re being worked on). And if there’s one thing that prevents me from going totally mental out of sheer boredom, it’s these creative passions and hobbies.

More interested in the design of the Bonnaroo 2012 page than the lineup (though, yeah, it looks good). And I knew the illustrations looked familiar.
