I decided to stay local and check out a few bars around my neighborhood. I hung out with Brett and Morgan at The Bearded Lady (pictured), a small cocktail bar on Washington Avenue. The drinks were great, and the bartenders definitely have an artistry regarding their cocktails. Also, according to Brett, they have “the best grilled cheese sandwich” he’s ever had.
After a few drinks, we traveled across Atlantic Avenue to Hot Bird, a fairly large bar with a wide and open beer garden. The place seemed to be fashioned out of an old garage, and several antique presses and sewing machines were spread throughout the interior.
Next, Brett and I ventured to Minor Arcana — again — on Washington Avenue. It’s a small pub whose bathroom is lined with all sorts of tarot cards, and little dioramas are encased in glass at the bar. It was there, I think, I was being hit on by an older gentleman in his 40’s or 50’s. The guy excused himself to the bathroom, and both Brett and I decided to leave.
As we were walking home, Brett heard some music coming from an apartment complex, so we then crashed some random going away party. We caught the end of the party, and I think Brett managed to kiss some random girl who was dancing with the both of us. Outside, another girl was talking about going to Franklin Park (a bar on Franklin and St. Johns), so under Brett’s persuasion, we then headed there. After ordering a gin and tonic at the bar, I was far too drunk to be out any longer. I couldn’t even finish my drink, and I stumbled back to my apartment three blocks away.
Needless to say, the next morning was awful.
